After 33 years, MTV Awards 2018 returning to Radio City Hall

MTV revealed details about the location and date of 2018’s Video Music Awards. According to their statement, the ceremony show will return where all began in 1984.

The 35th MTV Video Music Award Ceremony will be held on August 20 in NY, at the Radio City Music Hall, the location of its first two years (1984-1985).

•  It passed nine years since Video Music Awards were last held at Radio City. This year’s edition will mark the 12th time when the show has been held there. (the most for any VMAs location).
•  The 2018 VMAs edition is the 17th time when the awards take place in New York City.

Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Julie Menin adds: 

“That the VMAs will be returning to their roots in NewYork City for 2018’s celebration of music.

Prestigious awards shows like VMAs and Grammys not only reconfirm New York’s status as the music capital of the country… but they bring tremendous economic benefits to their host city, an estimated $50 million in the case of the VMAs.

I thank MTV and Viacom for their partnership… and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet for one of the music industry’s most entertaining nights.”

• For the 2018 VMAs, Jesse Ignjatovic comes back as executive producer together with Bruce Gillmer and Garrett English. The host of the 2018 MTV Award Ceremony isn’t yet known.
