J Balvin and Shakira are most nominated-artists

Columbian superstars Shakira and J Balvin, lead the pack with twelve nominations each, followed by Maluma, Fonsi, and Yankee with ten each. Like never before, three non-Latin singers follow with the number of nominees: Justin Bieber with eight, Beyonce got seven and Willy Wiliam with six.

The huge global success of the collaboration for the single “Mi Gente,” gained JBalvin’s half of all his nominees at annual Billboard Latin Awards.

It was originally recorded by French artist Willy William and then redone by Balvin in Spanish. The hit single ‘Mi Gente’ it’s up for six awards, including Hot Latin Song of the year, Digital Song of the year, and Airplay Song of the year. The Colombian reggaeton singer received nominations for Artist of the Year and Hot Latin Songs Artist Male of the year.

• Energía, it’s Balvin’s fourth studio album and is nominated for Top Latin Album of the year.
• “Mi Gente,” was also remixed in a bilingual version featuring Beyonce.

 Meanwhile, the Colombian superstar Shakira is up for Top Latin Album of the Year and Latin Pop Album of the Year with her eleventh studio album “El Dorado.” Shakira Mebarak’s track “Chantaje” it’s up for 5 Latin BMAs including, Digital Song of the year, Hot Latin Song of the Year and Airplay Song of the year.

• Shakira is nominated for Social Artist of the Year, against her country-mates J Balvin and Maluma.

The global hit single “Despacito ” dominates the Songwriter of the Year category with every single finalist: Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Erika Ender, Justin Bieber, Marty James Garton, and Poo Bear, a co-writer on the song.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards honor the most popular songs, albums, songwriters, and performers in Latin music, as determined by the sales, radio airplay, web streaming, and social data, according to Billboard.
