Park Jae-sang, famously known as Psy, was born on 31st December 1977 and raised into a wealthy family in South Korea, more precisely in the Gangnam District of Seoul.
The moment that sparked his love for music came at 15 years old when he saw a video of Queens performing their 1975 hit song “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Wembley Stadium.
His music career began in 2001, but the phenomenal worldwide success came in 2012 with the release of his hit song “Gangnam Style.
- For the following 5 years, Psy was recognized as the “King of YouTube” by media, thanks to “Gangnam Style” which, reigned all that time as the most viewed Youtube video.
According to Forbes, PSY’s gross income surpassed $40 million in 2012, and as of 2019, his net worth is estimated to $60 million.
- Later in 2014, Forbes stated that Psy earned $2 million from YouTube ads, almost all of the money came from the silly horsey dance video “Gangnam Style,” which had reached 2 billion views at the time.
