J Balvin overtakes Drake as Most Streamed Artist on Spotify

  J Balvin is the most streamed artist on Spotify, around the world.

Monday, the digital music platform announced that J Balvin became the most streamed singer on Spotify. The Colombian reggaeton star, broke the record after surpassing 48 million monthly listeners, overtaking Drake for the worldwide #1 spot.

His recent song X (EQUIS) with Nicky Jam, has been streamed over 327 million times and his last summer hit, ‘Mi Gente’ became the first Latin song to reach No. 1 on the Spotify’s Global Chart.

  • Spotify reported that Latin music listening increased by 110% in 2017, and J Balvin has a big role in this increase in popularity.

“The world is for those of us who dream big…I’m so grateful and proud to be the most heard artist in the world on Spotify. It’s bigger than J Balvin, it’s the movement and it’s in Spanish.”
