Cardi B: The First Female Rapper With Two No.1 Songs

Jul 4, 2018 | Artists, Broke the Record

Bacardi knows how to make history, thanks to her smash music records “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” she became the first woman rapper with number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

On 2 July, Bacardi officially became the first solo woman raper to have two No.1 songs on the Hot 100. She topped the chart with the hit song “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

And now, just to highlight how important is what Cardi B just achieved. Just four other female rappers besides Cardi have scored a No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart:

●  “Doo Wop (That Thing)” by Lauryn Hill in 1998;
● “Lady Marmalade” by Lil’ Kim in 2001
● “Stand Up” by Shawnna and Ludacris’s in 2003;
● “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea in 2014.

The pregnant rapper celebrated in her style, sharing a video of herself on Instagram, delighting us with the classical Cardi B move. On video is overlapped “NUMBER 1 AGAIN” in huge letters and full of enthusiasm Cardi B said:

“Number one, I’m number one, I’m number one!” before starts twerking.

Cardi B’s initial reaction when the news breaks out was another video. She thanked her fans and confessed that she didn’t expected “I Like It” to become such a huge success.

I’m grateful for my fans, I have the best fans, I cannot believe that ‘I Like It’ is No1… You know I always loved this record but I ain’t gon’ front, I slept on it and I slept on this record because two verses on this song, Balvin and Bad Bunny parts is in Spanish and I figure that not all of my fans know Spanish but it’s like, this the song y’all made it happen and I’m so happy and thankful.”
