 The list with the best selling songs of the last 10 years comprises famous singles like
“Poker Face,” “Girlfriend,” and “Happy.

The music industry, traditionally, has been built on measurements and they use measure physical sales- the charts.

  • The charts of the best-selling singles by year are gathered by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry annually since 2007 and are published in their two annual reports, Recording Industry in Numbers and Digital Music Report.

Here is the list with the best-selling singles by year in the world, of the last 10 years:

2016, “One Dance” by Drake was the best-selling single of the year with 12.5 million worldwide sales.

Was the best-performing single worldwide of 2016 and was named by Billboard the Song of the Summer.

2015, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa was the best-selling song of the year with 20.9 million worldwide sales.

It spent twelve non-consecutive weeks atop the US Billboard Hot 100 , tying Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” for the longest-running rap number-one single in the country.

2014, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams was the best-selling single of the year with 13.9 million worldwide sales and was Billboard’s #1 single that year.

In 2015, Pharell’s famous happy song won a Grammy Award for The Best Music Video.

2013, “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke was the best-selling song of the year with 14.8 million worldwide sales and broke the record for the largest radio audience in history.

On 21st April 2014, the hit single became the most downloaded song of all time in the UK.

2012, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen was ranked as the biggest-selling single of the year with 12.5 million worldwide sales.

 Jepsen’s track “Call Me Maybe” it is the first #1 by a Canadian female singer on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2007’s “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne.

2011, “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars was ranked as the biggest-selling single of the year with 12.5 million worldwide sales.

Bruno’s song is featured on the Greatest of All Time Hot 100 at number 79 and in 2012 won a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

2010, “TiK ToK” by Kesha was the best-selling single of the year with 12.8 million worldwide sales.

The track song was listed #56 on the Hot 100 Songs of All-time and it is also, the eighth most downloaded song in 2010.

2009, “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga was ranked as the biggest-selling song of the year with 9.8 million sales.

And is also Gaga’s most digitally-sold track in US and was awarded The Record of the Year.

The single became Lady Gaga’s second consecutive #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a new singer had their first two charting singles hit #1 on the Hot 100 since Christina Aguilera.

2008, Lil Wayne ‘s “Lollipop” by feat. Static Major was the best-selling single of the year with 9.1 million worldwide sales.

Its the first single from his 6th album, Tha Carter III.

The song was ranked as #1 hip hop song of 2008 by MTV, spending five non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 becoming Lil Wayne’s and Static Major’s most successful single to date.

2007, “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne was the best-selling single of the year with 7.3 million worldwide sales.

Next year, the hit single became the most viewed video on YouTube, and was the first video to reach 100 million views.

Lavigne’s the track song debuted at #5 on the US Hot 100 chart, being the highest debut of her career.
