Billie Eilish teamed up with Khalid, for a new song titled “Lovely”
Khalid has teamed up with budding singer Billie Eilish for “Lovely.” The hard-hitting ballad it’s about finding something better and was built with a potent mix of strings, piano, and sparse percussion.
The song ‘Lovely’ by Billie Eilish featuring Khalid, was released yesterday, on April 19, without any publicity, though the 16-year-old singer did warn fans through a short tweet, “Lovely with @thegreatkhalid.”
“We called it that because the song is sorta like really frickin’ depressing, so then it’s like, ‘Oh, how lovely!’ Just taking everything horrible and [being like], ‘You know what? This is so great! I’m so happy being miserable,’ you know?”
Billie also stated that the track did not come from arranged songwriting sessions, but from the inspiration of the two just chilling together.
“One thing that I’ll say is that when we wrote this actually song what was cool about it was that it wasn’t like we’re going to the studio and going to write a hit, you feel me. It was like hey come over, lets hangout. He just came over and we hung out. Me and my brother hung out with Khalid in our house and it was literally this is us hanging out as friends and we ended up writing a song.”
