9 Things You Didn’t Know About Beyoncé

Beyonce broke 2 Grammy records

After collecting 22 Grammy Awards, Beyonce broke the world records for the second-most awarded female artist and the most Grammy-nominated woman in history with 62 nominations.

In 2010, Bey became the most awarded female artist in one night at Grammy, being tied two years later by Adele.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles’ Alter-Ego is called Sasha Fierce.

Lots of singers have alter-egos, born to help amplify a certain part of their personality, to help them cope with their deepest fears or only to easily allow the audience to connect with the artist and his work.

The reason that lies beyond the creation of Sasha Fierce it’s hard to imagine, but Beyonce said she gets very nervous on stage, and her alter-ego it’s helping her to healthy defeat her stage fright.

Sasha Fierce is extroverted, aggressive, and bold, emanating powerful feelings and high energy on her performances.

On the other side, Beyonce herself is introverted, reserved, and needs the fierce persona of Sasha to express herself through music.

The character of Sasha Fierce was invented on the set of the “Crazy in Love” music video.

  • In 2006, Beyoncé revealed for Parade magazine that she “wouldn’t like Sasha if I met her offstage,” claiming her alter ego was “too aggressive, too sassy and too sexy” to be friends with.
  • In 2008, Beyonce released her third album titled “I Am… Sasha Fierce,” and in 2010, the album won six Grammys, smashing the world record for the most Grammys won in one night by a woman.

    In 2008, Beyonce told Telegraph:

”When I was 12, 13 I had my first boyfriend, and he was my boyfriend till I was 17. I’ve always been very loyal and a little more mature. The name of the music girl group, Destiny’s Child, is derived from a passage in the Book of Isaia.

Formed in 1990, the girl group was initially titled Girl’s Tyme. In 1997, after seven years of limited success, the quartet comprising Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett were signed to Colombia records under the rebirth name, Destiny’s Child.

    La Tavia said :

‘We got that name out of the Bible. One day Beyonce’s mom was about to read The Bible and she opened it up to read a scripture in Isaiah. Our picture fell out. Under our picture in bold-faced print was the word “destiny”.At the time we were looking for a name, so felt that God was sending us this name. We found out that a lot groups had the name, so we had “Child”, as a rebirth of Destiny’.

    • The following year in 1998, the girl group released their first album titled, Destiny’s Child.
    • In 1999, they released the 2nd album Writing’s on the Wall.

But despite their commercial success, Destiny’s Child was plagued by internal conflicts and legal turmoil, as Luckett and Roberson tried to split from the group’s manager Mathew Knowles, citing favoritism of Beyonce and Rowland.

In the end, Destiny’s Child became a trio, the final and best-known members are, Beyonce Knowles, Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland.

    • In 2001, they released the third album, Survivor, and in 2002, the trio announced their breakup to pursue solo careers.
    • In 2004, the famous trio got together for the release of their fourth and final album titled Destiny Fulfilled.

Since the group’s official breakup in 2006, Beyonce, Rowland, and William have reunited for a couple of times, including at the Super Bowl (2013) and Coachella festival (2018).

    • Billboard magazine ranked Destiny’s Child as the 9th most successful artist/band of the 2000s and placed at 68th on All-Time Hot 100 Artists.
