The Pop Queen Taylor Swift Made History in Dublin
On 15th June, during her Reputation Tour in Dublin, Taylor Swift made history as the first woman to sell out two nights in a row at Croke Park, the third largest Stadium of Europe.
And she is aslo the fourth female artist to have ever headlined in Croke:
“I am honoured to join the list of only four female performers who have performed at Croke Park..” the pop singer told the crowd.
Friday was the perfect night for almost 70,000 fans who turned up at Croke Stadium for America’s Sweetheart, who burst onto the stage in a tremendous explosion of flares and fireballs with her first track, Ready For It. Taylor surprised the audience by welcoming them in Irish, saying:
“Cead Mile Failte to the Reputations Stadium Tour…Thank you from the bottom of my heart, this is a really important night of my life. I’ve always heard Croke Park is legendary.”
“From your Irish fan club…. Bono, the Edge, Adam & Larry.”
Swift’s concerts are estimated to bring €60 million to the local economy, with approximately 136,000 fans who attended. She arrived in Ireland with her private jet and right away left for a holiday in Munster.
“Taylor wanted to spend some time in Ireland and let her staff get a feel for the place before playing Croke Park on Friday and Saturday. They really got the weather for her trip.” according to the Irish Sun.
