BTS set 8 Guinness World Records in two years
The Korean boyband BTS broke eight World Records in two years.
Three of their broken records were set as the First K-pop group, meaning they will hold them forever.
The Bangtan Boys group was born in 2013, and after 4 years in September 2017, BTS scored their first world record for the most viewed youtube video in 24 hours. BTS managed to set two Twitter World records in one day and even to surpass their world records for many times.- BTS ranks as the first K-pop band to reach No.1 on the Albums 200 chart and the first K-pop act to reach No.1 on Artist 100.
Most Watched Youtube Music Video in 24h

Released on 19 September 2017, BTS’s music video for “DNA” amassed more than 21 million views on Youtube in its first day — becoming the most watched-video in 24h by a K-pop band.
- 24 Days and 1 hour later, “DNA” became the fastest K-pop video ever to reach the 100 million views mark on Youtube.
- BTS holds the record for the first Korean band to hit the 600 million on Youtube with the music video of “DNA.”
- Furthermore, “DNA” stands as 2017 most played K-pop song video and is Bangtan Boys’s most-watched Youtube video so far.
Two Twitter World Records.
On 23 April 2018, The Bangtan Boys aka BTS broke two world world records after reaching 330,624 engagements on Twitter:
- The Most Twitter engagements (average retweets) by a band.
- The Most Twitter engagements (average retweets) on overall. One Direction’s Harry was the previous holder with 147,653 engagements.
As of May 2019, BTS gained 422,228 engagements, meanwhile their fellow K-pop band EXO had only 44,758 engagements.
First K-pop acts to reach #1 on the US Albums 200 chart.
As of June 2019, BTS became the first band to have scored three No.1 albums in less than a year on The Albums 200 chart since The Beatles did it in 1995–96. The chart topper albums:
- Love Yourself: Tear – In June 2018, thanks to their sixth album, BTS became the first K-pop act to reach No.1 on the US Billboard Albums 200, foreshadowing Post Malone’s Beerbongs and Bentleys with 135,000 equivalent album units sold.
- Love Yourself: Answer – In November 2018, BTS made music history after Love Yourself: Answer became the first Korean Language album to be certificated Gold by RIAA.
- Map of the Soul: Persona – In 2019, it smashed a record for the biggest-selling album in South Korea’s history, after it sold 3.2 million units in less than a month. By doing so, BTS became the best selling act ever in South Korea with 14 million album units.
Most Viewed Youtube Song Video in 24H.
BTS broke the world record for the most-watched music video online in 24 hours, surpassing Taylor Swift’s music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.” (Read about Swift’s Records)
The South Korean Boy band achieved this performance on August 24, 2018, with the song video for their latest single ‘Idol’ which gained over 45 million views during his first day on Youtube.
- The record-breaking video, has been online for ten months (as of 27 June) and has more than 490 million views.
First Korean group to reach Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
On the week dated 2 June 2018, BTS scored their First top ten single with ‘Fake Love’ ranking at #10 and becoming the first track by K-pop band to earn this achievement.
- ‘Fake Love’ is the third single ever by a K-pop act to hit the US Top 10, after Psy did it in 2012 with “Gangnam Style” (#2) and in 2013 “Gentleman” (#5).
BTS broke their record for the highest-charting Hot 100 single by K-pop group, surpassing its “Mic Drop” which reached #28 in December 2017.
Later in April 2019, their song “Boy With Luv” debuted at #8 on Hot 100 chart, surpassing ” Fake Love” for the highest debut in history for a Korean group and breaking the record for the most most-watched video in its first 24 hours.
BTS is the First K-pop acts to rank #1 on the US Artist 100.
On 2 June 2018, powered by their first No.1 album (Love Yourself: Tear) and the single “Fake Love” BTS debuted at #1 on the US Artist 100 Chart.
By doing so, BTS became the first K-pop act to top the chart after climbing from #4 to #1 in their 85th chart week.
- Behind BTS ranks Post Malone (#2), Drake (#3), Five Finger Death Punch (#4), and Imagine Dragons (#5).
The BTS band is also the first K-pop act leader on the Billboard chart that records, primarily in a Foreign Language, other than English.
