  From his launch in 2005, Youtube has seen 13 videos breaking the three billion views mark, five of which surpassed four billion views, two of which exceed five billon views and one which exceeds one billion views.

  • Psy’s “Gangnam Style” was the first video to exceed two billion views, and for 5 years, it was the #1 Most Viewed Video on Youtube.
  • In August 2017, “Despacito” became the first video to reach three billion views, and since then has exceeded four billion in October 2017, five billion in April 2018, and six billion in February 2019.
  • “See You Again” ranks as the 2nd video to surpass three billion views in August 2017, followed by “Gangnam Style” in November 2017.
  • In January 2019, “Shape of You” became the 2nd video to reach four billion views, followed by “See You Again” in February 2019.
  • In April 2020, “Baby Shark Dance” became the 2nd Youtube video to reach five billion views.

10. ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry – 3,088,102,828 views.

The lead single from Perry’s fourth album Prism, “Roar” is her eighth #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Published in September 2013, the “Roar” video has 11 million likes and currently ranks as the 10th most viewed music video on Youtube with more than 3 billion views as of June 2020.
  • Katy Perry ranks as the first female to reach 1 billion views on a Youtube video.
  • Perry’s music video for “Roar” ranks the 1st most-streamed video on Youtube by a female artist.
  • With “Roar,” Katy Perry became the first singer to have three Diamond certified songs by RIAA. (“Firework” and “Dark Horse”).

9. ‘Sugar’ by Maroon 5 – 3,205,321,917 views.

Recorded in 2014 by the pop-rock band Maroon 5 for their fifth album, Sugar peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 chart becoming the 3rd song from the album to reach top 10 and their eight consecutive entry in top ten. Released in January 2015, “Sugar” currently amassed 11 million likes and ranks as the 9th most-viewed Youtube music video with 3.2 billion views.
  • The music video of “Sugar” was inspired by the 2005 successful romantic-comedy “Wedding Crashers” and features the band crashing real weddings in Los Angeles.

8. ‘Sorry’ by Justin Bieber – 3,294,202,774 views.

“Sorry” is a song recorded by Justin Bieber for his fourth album, Purpose (2015), which became one of best selling digital songs with 10.8 million copies sales only in 2016. Released in October 2015, currently “Sorry” video ranks as the 8th most viewed Youtube music video with almost 3.3 billion views, and the like button was hit by 12 million people. Biber’s video “Sorry” is the 22nd clip to reach the Youtube mark of 1 billion views, and it’s ranking also like the:

  • 4th fastest video to reach 2 billion views.
  • 7th fastest video to reach 3 billion views.

7.  “Johny Johny Yes Papa” – 3,379,866,167 views.

“Johny Johny Yes Papa” is an English nursery rhyme about a child, Johny, who is caught by his father eating sugar.

A video containing the song was uploaded to Youtube by Loo Loo Kids in October 2016, and by June 2020 ranks as the 7th most-watched music video with 3.3 billion views, and it amassed 8.8 million likes.
  • The “Johny Johny Yes Papa” video also ranks amongst the top 10 most disliked Youtube videos with 5.7 million dislikes.

6. ‘Gangnam Style’ by Psy – 3,646,162,562 views.

“Oppa Gangnam Style” music video features Psy’s famous horse dance and is the first YouTube video to reach one billion views and two billion views. As of July 2019, the “Gangnam Style” video currently ranks as the 6th most viewed music video on youtube with 3.6 billion views.
  • Released in July 2012, “Gangnam Style” video was most viewed video for 1,689 days (until July 2015, when was surpassed by Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again”)
  • Was the most liked video for 1,444 days and currently ranks as the fifth most liked Youtube video with 18 million likes.

5. ‘Uptown funk’ by Mark Ronson – 3,861,879,333 views.

Released in November 2014, “Uptown Funk” currently ranks as the 5th most viewed Youtube video of all time with 3.8 billion views, and with 14 million likes is the 13rd most liked video. The funk-pop song by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars was a global phenomenon and became best selling digital single of 2015 with over 5.2 million sold copies.
  • It spent eighteen weeks in the top ten on the Hot 100 chart, including seven weeks at #1 (being Ronson’s first number one).
  • “Uptown Funk” is the second song of the 21st century to be certified 4x Platinum, after “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.

4. ‘See you again’ by Wiz Khalifa – 4,582,094,914 views.

It ranks as the 4th most viewed video on Youtube with almost 4,6 billion views, being one of the three videos to achieve this mark. In 5 years, the “See You Again” video ammassed 28 million likes.
  • Released in April 2015, the music video of “See You Again” held the record for the most viewed video on Youtube for 25 days until it was surpassed by Despacito.
  • It reached 2 billion in 515 days, and it took 853 days to reach 3 billion being the fastest to accomplish this feat.

The children song “Baby Shark” is about a family of sharks that go hunt a school of fish, and it has been long known as a campfire song. Currently, “Baby Shark” ranks as the 2th most-watched music video on the streaming platform owned by Google, with over 5.5 billion views.
  • The “Baby Shark” video gathered 17 million likes and 7.5 million dislikes.
  • Since, June 2016, the song grew in popularity thanks to a dance version of “Baby Shark” which was uploaded on Youtube by the South Korean educational brand Pinkfong.
  • In the beginning, the Baby shark video became popular in Southeast Asia, and it got viral in the Western world around August 2018.
